چکیده

Tomato is the second most important vegetable crop in world after potato. Its production hindered by fungal and viral diseases. Control of these diseases requires a significant investment that represents up to 40% costs. Marker-assisted gene pyramiding powerful breeding tool which allow rapid constitution lines with broad spectrum resistance against Nevertheless, accuracy rapidity introgression genes interest are some critical barriers successful application. In this paper, we use simple method combines duplex PCR for two virus (i.e., Sw-5 Tm-22) uses linkage between Tm-22 Forl speed into “Pomodoro di Sorrento” tomato line. The was used through six generations backcrossing followed three selfing resulted homozygous resistant

Pyramiding of genes conferring resistance to Tomato yellow leaf curl virus from different wild tomato species

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) production in tropical and subtropical regions of the world is limited by the endemic presence of Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV). Breeding programmes aimed at producing TYLCV-resistant tomato cultivars have utilized resistance sources derived from wild tomato species. So far, all reported breeding programmes have introgressed TYLCV resistance from a single w...

Gene pyramiding enhances durable blast disease resistance in rice

Effective control of blast, a devastating fungal disease of rice, would increase and stabilize worldwide food production. Resistance mediated by quantitative trait loci (QTLs), which usually have smaller individual effects than R-genes but confer broad-spectrum or non-race-specific resistance, is a promising alternative to less durable race-specific resistance for crop improvement, yet evidence...

Distribution of Enterococcal Species and Detection of Vancomycin Resistance Genes by Multiplex PCR in Tehran Sewage

Enterococci are important because of their role as the leading cause of nosocomial infections which have a significant role in the dissemination and persistence of antimicrobial resistance genes. Methods: In this study, we determined the distribution of enterococcal species in the sewage treatment plants in Iran. Furthermore, we improved a rapid and specific PCR method using primers (sodA and ...

The cloned avirulence gene avrPto induces disease resistance in tomato cultivars containing the Pto resistance gene.

Resistance of tomato plants to the bacterial pathogen Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato race 0 is controlled by the locus Pto. A bacterial avirulence gene was cloned by constructing a cosmid library from an avirulent P. syringae pv. tomato race, conjugating the recombinants into a strain of P. syringae pv. maculicola virulent on a tomato cultivar containing Pto, and screening for those clones tha...
